Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration of
Ex-combatants
In regions of violent conflict, and/or serious political and social crisis, a successful transition between conflict and peace is often dependent on the creation of a climate of confidence and security, which paves the way for a range of peace building and recovery activities.
The process of disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration (DDR) is an output of conflict resolution and a facilitator of peace building.
The aim of the course is to give the participants a comprehensive view on DDR.

The course will combine experiences from different DDR programmes with theoretical views on the subject. The course is compliant with recently established UN Integrated DDR Standards (IDDRS).
This course is planned and conducted in cooperation with Swedish National Defence College (SNDC).
Participation
The approximately 25 participants are expected to have a basic knowledge of peace support operations and a need or strong interest to learn about DDR. Invited participants are civil servants, diplomats, civilian police, military personnel, academics and representatives of international and non-governmental organizations, ready for international missions.
