Gender affects both the internal and external environment of peace operations. Therefore, gender awareness is key to effective leadership. To promote effective leadership in international field operations, the Folke Bernadotte Academy is organizing a pilot course on the subject of leadership in field operations with a strengthened gender perspective.
The primary objective of this course is to increase the knowledge and understanding of effective leadership. With gender as an integrated perspective, the course will go through different aspects of leadership in order to provide the participants with an opportunity to reflect critically on their own experiences and develop new leadership approaches.
Methodologically, the course combines theory with practical case studies. Emphasis is on multifunctional operations at the field level where security concerns are important considerations and operations run day and night.
Participation
The course is intended for people in mid- to senior level management positions from national and local government, regional and civil society organizations, including representatives from the business community. Police and military personnel are also encouraged to apply.
