Preparations for VIKING 11 continues

The preparations for the civil-military-police exercise VIKING 11 have continued during spring 2010. Together, the Folke Bernadotte Academy and the Swedish Armed Forces have arranged several workshops with the aim of developing the scenario and gaming of the exercise. Another important focus has been the confirmation of the sites, where FBA supports the development of the civilian dimension.

During autumn preparations for the exercise will continue keeping the results of the June “Main Planning Conference” in mind. Preparations will focus on pre training, continued development of the scenario and gaming as well as the confirmation of civilian, police and military organisations’ participation in the exercise. Appointed civilian site advisers will also start the important work of supporting the development of the civilian dimension at the sites.

The computer assisted distributed command post exercise VIKING 11 will take place in April 2011 mainly based in Sweden with distributed sites in a number of countries from USA in the West to Kazakhstan in the East. FBA’s role in the planning of the exercise is to coordinate and support the civilian participation in order to strengthen the civilian dimension and in order to ensure that military and civilian participants training needs are met.
