An international research working group focusing on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on 'Women, Peace and Security' was launched at the end of November by the Folke Bernadotte Academy.
The research working group is part of the Academy's efforts to support research on prevention, conflict management and conflict resolution where UNSCR 1325, and the follow-up resolutions, constitute a central part.
The working group consists of internationally recognized researchers and handle issues such as systematic violence against women, women's participation in conflict resolution and questions of gender justice. At the first workshop held at the Swedish Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, Senior Gender Adviser Comfort Lamptey also participated. She presented ongoing policy developments and discussed research questions with the participants of the research working group. .
