The Rule of Law Programme strives to support international and national actors, organisations, policymakers, decision makers, practitioners and academics with training, research, tools, policy development that address current and future challenges to rule of law reform.
The Rule of Law Programme consists of legal scholars and practitioners with experience of work in support of rule of law, human rights and legal and justice sector reform in post-conflict, transition and development countries.
Activities:
The activities of the Rule of Law Programme are extensive and often cross-cutting in nature. Many are undertaken in cooperation with international, regional and/or national actors. They include all stages of conflict management as well as development efforts.
Recent and ongoing activities include the establishment of a Research Working Group with rule of law experts as well as a rule of law Seminar Series. Both provide important platforms for discussions on the rule of law and related topics, and current and future challenges.
Other rule of law activities include:
Education and training: targeting both Swedish and international researchers, practitioners and policy makers
Coordination and consistency in rule of law: creating and maintaining networks, contributing to common approaches, providing platforms for discussion and knowledge development.
Development of tools and methodologies: improving knowledge, identifying best practice, strenghten rule of law delivery mechanisms and contributing to international efforts in rule of law
Research and policy development: contributing to national and international doctrine, identifying new challenges and trends.
