Contemporary peacekeeping mission often have complex mandates with tasks in fields of humanitarian assistance, civil administration as well as military operations. These types of missions are often referred to as multi functional or integrated mission.
In order to carry out these missions and to work effectively within them it is fundamental to have a solid understanding of the needs and competences of other actors on the ground. Coordination and cooperation is key to a successful multifunctional mission.
The Folke Bernadotte Academy has the competence to provide this understanding and is active within the field of multifunctionalism including civil-military relations.
