The Conflict Prevention in Practice Program has developed three main courses: "Facilitation of Dialogue Processes and Mediation Efforts", "The Role of Economic Actors in Conflict Prevention and Peace Building" and "Reconciliation and Coexistence".
In addition, the Program takes part in several other courses of the Academy.
The course aims at developing the participant's practical skills in facilitation of dialogue and mediation. The course addresses key persons in national governments, international, regional and subregional organizations as well as persons in civil society organizations both working in the field and at headquarters. The methodology of the course is interactive and practical exercises and role plays are used, where the participants themselves are expected to contribute with knowledge and experience. For more information see the Education page.
The course aims at increasing the participant's understanding of and support to economic actors in conflict situations in order to contribute to social and economic stability, employment and development. After the course the participants should be able to create better conditions for practical measures in peace missions aiming at making employment in a peaceful society an attractive alternative to the use of violence. An important element in the course is the training in economic and social dialogue between different actors in society. The course can be seen in the context of DDR with focus on reintegration. For more information see the Education page.
The course aims at developing capacities to support the rapprochement of former enemies and the building of peaceful relations in divided societies. Participants will explore the use of dialogue and other participatory methods as well as look into the role of economic development and security in the rebuilding of a peaceful society. The course will be highly interactive with a focus on skills-building, conversations, role-plays and exercises and will be partly based on case studies. The course will focus on reconciliation and coexistence from a conflict prevention perspective.
