International Forum for the Challenges of Peace Operations

The International Forum for the Challenges of Peace Operations was initiated in 1997 as a shared effort by a multiplicity of Partner Organisations around the world called "The Challenges of Peace Operations Project".

The International Forum for the Challenges of Peace Operations provides the international community with a dynamic and strategic platform for an enhanced debate on the preparation, conduct and evaluation of civilian, military and police peace operations among leading policy makers, practitioners and academics.

The Challenges Forum is a joint undertaking by Partner Organisations from 17 leading peace operations contributing countries, from all continents and including the five permanent members of the Security Council and key personnel contributing countries.

The Forum generates practical recommendations and encourages action for their effective implementation. Doctrine and concepts development for multidimensional peace operations is an ongoing key subject focus of the Forum.

The Folke Bernadotte Academy is the Coordinator of the Challenges Forum in cooperation with the Swedish Armed Forces, the National Police Board, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and the National Defence College.
