The Folke Bernadotte Academy is a Swedish government agency dedicated to improving the quality and effectiveness of international conflict and crisis management, with a particular focus on peace operations. The Academy functions as a platform for cooperation between Swedish agencies and organizations and their international partners.

Courses and Activities 2011

 

The Folke Bernadotte Academy’s course selection for 2011 is now available. Courses target both practitioners and policy makers and are offered at basic and specialized levels. More in-depth information about dates and the application process will be published under respective course during the autumn.

A digitised documentation on Sweden’s participation in international peace operations since 1956. The Folke Bernadotte Collections make the digitised documents available free of charge to researchers, students, and the general public.

 

UNDP and FBA working together on Rule of Law

 

The FBA Rule of Law Programme and the UNDP will work together on the research project “Measuring Rule of Law in Public Administration: Tool and Guide for Self-Assessment”.  

 

Rule of law and public administration is a prioritized area of research at the FBA since 2006, and the current project build upon the 2008 research report, “Rule of Law in Public Administration: Problems and Ways Ahead in Peace Building and Development”.  

 

In cooperation with the UNDP, the FBA Rule of Law Programme will conduct a series of pilot studies of the recently developed analytical tool for measuring rule of law in public administration.

The government has launched a web portal regarding the Swedish support to the international involvement in Afghanistan. The aim of the portal is to inform interested parties why and how Sweden is involved in Afghanistan.
