The Folke Bernadotte Academy is a Swedish government agency dedicated to improving the quality and effectiveness of international conflict and crisis management, with a particular focus on peace operations. The Academy functions as a platform for cooperation between Swedish agencies and organizations and their international partners.

Challenges Forum

The second International Forum for the Challenges of Peace Operations was held 11-13 November 2009 in New York. In light of current reform initiatives such as the New Horizon, the Forum focused on Enhancing the Partnership with TCC/PCCs: Mandate-Making and Mandate-Implementation and Effective Mission Command and Control. Research working group on UNSCR 1325

An international research working group focusing on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on 'Women, Peace and Security' was launched at the end of November by the Folke Bernadotte Academy.
The research working group is part of the Academy's efforts to support research on prevention, conflict management and conflict resolution where UNSCR 1325, and the follow-up resolutions, constitute a central part.
